Het ontologische argument

De fout in deze redenering zit in de aanname dat bestaan een eigenschap is. Bestaan is een gegeven. Niets kan immers groots of perfect zijn als het niet bestaat. Bestaan is een vereiste voor eigenschappen.

Via de manier van redeneren zoals in het ontologische argument is zelfs perfecte leegte te bewijzen, wat zou betekenen dat niets bestaat! Ontologische argumenten zijn niets meer dan taalspelletjes en hebben geen enkel verband met de werkelijkheid waarin wij leven.

Na St. Anselm zijn er nog velen geweest die ontologische argumenten geformuleerd hebben zoals Descartes, Gödel en Plantinga.
